Chris sings to Gabrielle this traditional lullaby that can be traced back to a play in 1603 as a 'Cradle Song' in the play Patient Grissel by Thomas Dekker (1572 – 1632). The lullaby tune can be traced back to the 17th century and a version appears in 'The Beggar's Opera' by John Gay 1728.

Chris's words were:
Golden Slumbers kiss your eyes, dawn will break and you arise
Sleep my darling, do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby

On the project the more familiar words 'smiles awake you when you rise' and 'sleep pretty baby' instead of 'sleep my darling' were sometimes used as these words were in the lullaby books parents were using. Chris wasn't sure about the words when the recording was taken and gave permission to change them.
